How does the Icon® system work?

The Icon system uses laser technology to safely and effectively remove hair from various parts of the body. The laser is used to target each hair individually. It then heats the hair follicle to a temperature that causes enough damage that it prevents future hair growth.

The damage to the follicle is meant to be permanent, but future treatments may be needed in certain areas to guarantee that the hair doesn't grow back.

Hair that is darker and coarser may require several treatments to inhibit its growth effectively. Each time the hair returns, it will be lighter and finer than it was before.

Are the results of an Icon procedure permanent?

Because your provider targets each hair individually, the laser can focus directly on one follicle at a time. Repeatedly targeting the follicle with the laser causes substantial damage that, over time, will prevent hair from being produced. Hair may continue to grow for a short period, but eventually, the follicle will be unable to sustain new hair growth.

It's important that your provider closely monitors the hair's growing cycle, so the laser can be used when it's most effective. In the rare instance that hair does grow back, it will be much finer and lighter than in the past.
