Claire Yeamans, Certified Nurse Midwife, Joins LoneTree OBGYN

Claire Yeamans

We are so excited that Claire Yeamans has joined LoneTree OBGYN & Midwives. Originally from Grosse Point, Michigan Claire received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing from the University of Michigan.

After college, Claire moved to Denver working as a pediatric nurse. Her patient cases involved a variety of behavioral and medical conditions ranging from diabetic ketoacidosis and RSV to eating disorders and psychosis.  Caring for medically complex kids is where Claire learned valuable experience in how to provide comfort and education for parents and patients.

An amazing fact about Claire’s background is that her mother is also a midwife who is still delivering babies today! Growing up she watched the tremendous impact her mom had during deliveries when patients received personal, empowering care, enabling them to make informed choices. During clinical rotations in school, Claire had the wonderful opportunity to work alongside her mom and catch babies together.

“It was an extremely rewarding experience and emulated the kind of care I hope to bring to all my patients, where everyone is working as a team and patients feel comfortable and safe.”

Claire’s transition from pediatrics to midwifery began as she questioned the type of advanced nurse practitioner she wanted to be. At the top of her list was to be a provider who had the autonomy to make decisions when it came to preventative health for women.

“Women’s health is a field where so much work needs to be done to reduce disparities and ensure every person has access to the knowledge and support to make their own decisions about their bodies. “

From that came the desire to offer holistic, trauma informed care when it comes to both outpatient and labor and delivery settings.

“By trauma informed care, I mean being mindful of how past trauma might influence how patients experience the healthcare system, and creating a space where patients feel heard and respected, and can collaborate with their provider to improve their health and well-being.”

Outside of work, Claire enjoys hiking, snowboarding, reading, baking, and walking her dog. She is so excited to be back in Colorado, now as a midwife!
