You may resume a normal diet after returning home. Limit your activity and rest for 24 hours following the procedure. Climbing stairs, walking, and light housework may be resumed at your own pace. You may resume driving 24 hours following the procedure. No sexual intercourse, tampons, or douching for 4 weeks following the procedure. You may shower anytime after returning home.

You may have mild cramping after this procedure. Expect a pinkish watery discharge for 2 – 3 weeks. If you experience severe pain, fever greater than 100.5°, nausea and vomiting, a greenish vaginal discharge with odor, or heavy bleeding (soaking a pad every hour), contact the office.

The following medications are recommended for mild cramping or discomfort:

  • Motrin (Advil) 600 mg every 6 hours as needed for cramping.
  • Tylenol (regular or extra strength) 1-2 tablets every 4 hours as needed for pain.
  • A narcotic pain reliever such as Percocet, Vicodin, Darvocet, or Tylenol #3 may be prescribed for the first few weeks following surgery.

You should schedule a post-operative appointment 3-4 weeks following surgery.
