TruSculpt Body Contouring Q & A
What are the benefits of a body contouring procedure?
A body contouring or sculpting procedure removes unwanted pockets of fat from specific areas of the body. It offers you a sleek, well-defined look that is free of unwanted bulges and bumps. The procedure takes less than 30 minutes to perform and, in most cases, the recovery time is minimal.
Initial results are usually visible in as little as three to four weeks. You can see the final results in as little as three months.
One of the advantages of this type of procedure is that the results are permanent. The TruSculpt® procedure destroys the fat cells, so they are quickly flushed from the body. If the fat pockets do reappear, it's because new fat deposits have formed. The old ones haven't returned.
How does TruSculpt work?
The TruSculpt system uses radio frequency or RF waves to heat up and destroy fat cells. Once the fat cells are damaged, the body's defenses come in, break them down, and flush them from the body. During each session, your provider directs RF waves into specific areas of the body where fat tends to accumulate. These areas include:
- Upper arms
- Lower back
Most providers allow you three sessions to achieve maximum results. Each session lasts for less than 30 minutes, during which time the provider can make adjustments to the RF waves for maximum comfort, during the procedure.
How long do the results last?
The TruSculpt system heats cells to the point where irreversible damage occurs. They can't repair themselves and will begin to break down almost immediately. Over time, the cells become so damaged that the body's defense mechanisms come in and dissolve the cells, breaking them down the rest of the way.
Once the cells are reduced to debris, your body flushes them out. Any fat deposits that form in their place are made up of new fat cells; once a fat deposit has been treated with the TruSculpt laser, they're permanently destroyed.
